201 - Asbestos 16-Hour Operations & Maintenance Initial (Class III OSHA)

Initial training for maintenance workers involved in general maintenance and asbestos material repair tasks. The course agenda includes: Federal and State regulations; proper asbestos-related work practices; respirator user, care, and fit testing; protective clothing; hands-on exercises; and proper decontamination procedures. This course fulfills training requirements for OSHA Class III work, for OSHA Competent Person for Classes III and IV, and AHERA O&M.

Annual refresher training for asbestos O&M workers including review of topics originally presented in Course 201. This course features a presentation of new developments in government regulations, state-of-the-art work practices and asbestos abatement industry standards.

206 - Asbestos 8-Hour Material Specific Initial (Class II OSHA)

Initial training for roofing or resilient floor covering workers where asbestos-containing materials may be disturbed and state regulations do not require licensure. The course agenda includes background information on asbestos; health effects associated with asbestos exposure; operations that could result in exposure to asbestos, protective controls to minimize exposure including, engineering controls, work practices, respirators, housekeeping procedures, hygiene facilities, protective clothing, decontamination procedures, emergency procedures, and waste disposal procedures; the appropriate work practices for performing the asbestos job; medical surveillance program requirements; the content of 29 CFR 1926.1101 including appendices; smoking cessation; posting signs and labels; work practices outlined at 29 CFR 1926.1101 (g)(7)(ii); and hands-on activities.

204 - Asbestos 8-Hour Material Specific Refresher (Class II OSHA)

Annual refresher training for asbestos roofing and resilient floor covering workers including review of topics originally presented in Course 203. This course features a presentation of new developments in government regulations, state-of-the-art work practices and asbestos abatement industry standards.

Prerequisite: Course 203 or equivalent

205 - Asbestos 2-Hour General Awareness Initial (Class IV OSHA)

Initial awareness training for custodial workers having potential of working in proximity to asbestos-containing materials (ACM). The course agenda includes an introduction to: background information on asbestos; health effects of asbestos; worker protection programs; locations of ACM in buildings; recognition of ACM damage and deterioration; operations and maintenance programs; proper response to fiber release episodes. This course fulfills training requirements for OSHA Class IV and AHERA O&M work.

206 - Asbestos 2-Hour General Awareness Refresher (Class IV OSHA)

207 - Asbestos Air Sampling Technician (16 Hours)

This course was developed to meet the requirements of Missouri regulations for training of asbestos air sampling technicians. The course agenda includes air sampling requirements of asbestos regulations; techniques and strategies for sample collection; calibration of sampling equipment; management of sampling data; and quality assurance. The course is presented by a Missouri Air Sampling Professional.

Prerequisite: Other asbestos certification is required to enter regulated areas

208 - Asbestos Air Sampling Professional Exam (2 Hours)

This is a review and exam session for persons completing the Missouri exam to qualify as an asbestos air sampling professional. The course is presented by a Missouri Air Sampling Professional.

Prerequisite: NIOSH 582e and industrial hygiene experience

209 - NIOSH 582 Method 7400 Equivalency Course

This course is designed to acquaint the student with the sampling and analytical techniques involved in NIOSH Method 7400 for asbestos air sampling. The course consists of lecture, discussion and hands-on laboratory experience in taking, preparing, and analyzing air samples.

Prerequisite: None (But other asbestos certification is beneficial)
